CURRENT SERMON SERIES There are those who have interpreted Peter as calling us “Resident Aliens” in this world. In the world, but not of it. How in the world does that work? How do we live as citizens of the world which is to come when we are so clearly a part of this world? How do we act when our narrative is not the narrative of the world? Maybe the best way to help us now is to return to when this was the story of the people of God in Scripture. The ancient Israelite people had their city and Temple sacked by Babylon and the best and brightest were taken away into exile. There, they had to navigate what faithful living looked like when they didn’t write the rules, and the temptation to pack it in and live like the pagans was immense. We can empathize with this struggle in our context. Join us as we walk through Lions’ Dens and Valleys of Dry Bones as we ask how to be faithful when power, narrative, and control are no longer in the hands of the people of God.
