What is a Community on Mission (CoM)?

A Community on Mission (CoM) is a group of people that grow and serve together. It’s a take on a traditional small group that uniquely blends deep relationships with the call to serve others.

Each CoM rotates between community gatherings and mission gatherings:

  • In the community gatherings, relationships are formed as participants share in life, faith, and growth.

  • In the mission gatherings, heaven on earth is made visible through the service of a specific group/place.

We currently have four Communities on Mission, and are always ready to add more!

Global Neighbor Immigration Community Leaders:
Jen & KC Schroeder

Mission:
The mission of the Crossroads Global Neighbor Immigration Ministry is to serve as an immigrant-focused Community on Mission (CoM), welcoming and supporting newly arrived immigrants. We aim to provide essential resources for processing and settling, foster a sense of belonging, empower individuals through practical assistance like English language education, and reflect Christ’s love and hospitality.

Gatherings:
We meet at Crossroads on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month during the 11 am service for fellowship, prayer, and group discussion (topic TBD). Outside of our group meetings, we are engaged in two ministry opportunities through World Relief Baltimore: (1) supporting a refugee family with help for everyday needs such as transportation and (2) holding informal English language practice sessions to help the immigrant community improve their conversation skills. Open to men and women ages 18 and older

Crossroads Cares Community Leaders:
Lauren Landerman and Jen Roland

Mission:
The mission of Crossroads Cares is to address the loneliness and mental health epidemics in our community by coming alongside those who are struggling to offer prayer and support.

Through a text messaging platform, our group members connect with “explorers” - people who are looking for answers online and searching for someone to help them process what they're experiencing through prayer and conversation.

Our group members respond based on their availability and their ministry area to initiate further conversation and begin the process of building relationships.

Gatherings:
This CoM meets monthly at Crossroads or online (day & time varies based on group availability) for spiritual connection, peer support, and to discuss ways to best minister to our explorers throughout the week. Open to men and women ages 18+.

Foster Care Support Community Leaders:
Dan Jorquera and Cindy Sexton

Mission:
The mission of this community is to bring practical support to the doorstep of a foster family at its most vulnerable time, in collaboration with the mission of Foster the Family Baltimore (www.fosterthefamilybaltimore.org)

Gatherings:
This community will meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 6:30-8 pm at Crossroads to make meals for the foster families, share a snack, and discuss Scripture together. Children are welcome and childcare may be available.

Families on a Mission Community
Leaders: Brian & Maren Simons and Marisa Hollencamp

Mission:
The mission of this group is to provide whole-family service opportunities and facilitate spiritual growth through community fellowship and group study. Our gatherings alternate fellowship/study and service to support Fish of Laurel at Elizabeth House.

Gatherings:
On the 2nd Sundays of the month, we gather at 4:30pm at a member's home for a potluck-style family dinner followed by a time of spiritual growth for the adults. An activity and/or childcare will be available for children during this time.

On the 4th Sundays of the month, we gather at Crossroads after the 9am service, bringing the whole family together to serve side by side with our children packing bag lunches for distribution at Elizabeth House. Members will share provision of various lunch supplies. Open to all!
